According to the World Federation of Tourist Guide Associations (WTGA, n.d.), a tour guide is a person who guides visitors in the language of their choice and interprets the cultural and natural heritage of an area. He or she normally possesses an area-specific qualification which is issued and/or recognized by the appropriate authority.
While tour guides conduct tours, they are also responsible for providing information to the tourists. This in-formation could be the area/s history, heritage, and places of interest. As such, a tour guide must be a good communicator. He or she must be genuinely interested in the destination where or she operates.
