About Lesson
Proper environmental management and cleanliness of the farm, the barn, the milking parlor, and the milking equipment are major determinants of both milking efficiency and sanitation. These are important factors in the control of intra-mammary infections.
Mastitis infections can be caused by either contagious or environmental pathogens and can be transferred from one Doe to another. Disinfection of teats, the use of gloves, single-service towels to dry teats, and proper washing and disinfection of milking equipment are necessary to decrease the spread of pathogens and occurrence of intra-mammary infections in the farm.
